Crisi idrica e risparmio idrico: come comportarsi in casa

Water crisis and saving: what to do at home

The constantly increasing temperatures due to the climate change and the dryness are making the situation of the water supplies dramatic. Po and other rivers are continuously under control for this situation that risks to modify irreparably the habitat of many animal and plant species, also for the mixture of river and sea water.

Many Italian cities, for this reason, are giving emergency instructions on how to use the drinkable water at home.

What can we do to fight this water crisis? Which attentions can we adopt at home to avoid useless water wastage? How can we lengthen the life of this important resource?

In this post we’ll give you some useful advises to do your part and avoid more serious damages than the actual ones.

In order to avoid useless water wastage, by now everyone learnt that it’s necessary to use responsibly the appliances such as the washing machine, dishwasher only when they’re fully loaded. We know that it’s important to use the faucets’ aerator and install a double-jet flushing cistern for the WC, or use the shower rather than the bath tub. But we can do more, we can lengthen the water life by using it for several uses.

For example, the water to boil the pasta can be used again to clean dishes, the one to boil vegetables contains many minerals and nutritive substances for the plants so it can be used again to water and the water where you soak fruits and vegetables can be used again to clean floorings, even by adding a spoonful of bicarbonate, vinegar or lemon.

The climate conditions affect a lot the territories’ fragility and the communities’ resilience but, in addition to the water crisis, other factors are decisive: the hydroelectric crisis and the dispersion of the resource in the water network. For this reason, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, with its Mission Green Revolution and Ecological Transition, promoted a significant investment for the maintenance of the main water infrastructures.

Soema have been producing hygienic systems and locker rooms for highly-frequented areas for 35 years working to craft products that improve the resources’ use and encourage people to use them responsibly.
